Walking in The Spirit
How do you walk in the Spirit?
It’s one thing to know that you have two natures competing for the control of your soul and another to know what to do about it. Since every one’s walk with God is a little different, we can’t give you a step-by-step guide that will guarantee your success.
(That is what your spirit does.)
Learning to receive input from him on a daily basis is the key to overcoming your man of sin.
The more you are able to understand what he is telling you and begin to let him show you how to think and what to do, the more you are able to renew your mind with God’s concepts.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service, and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1,2
The first part of this is for you to present your body as a living sacrifice. Time is a very precious commodity. It is the one thing that God has given to each of us for the purpose of spending time with Him, but we usually spend it somewhere else, doing something else.
We have found that spending the first moments of our day with the Lord has huge benefits for our lives. This is our first fruit offering. By doing this, we present our bodies and our minds to the Holy Spirit, who is our teacher and our guide through this world that we walk in.
When we wake up in the morning, we use the bathroom, wash up and brush our teeth. Put the coffee on and set the room to rights and then before we start breakfast and the rest of our day, we sit down and spend time with the Lord. For us, this means that we pause and give the Father glory and then sit quietly and write down what we hear.
(It’s OK to talk to God like He is your best friend, because He is.)
Often we found that after our soul poured out what was concerning him, the next was something more than what we had been thinking about. We were waiting to see what He was going to say next. We knew it was not coming from our natural mind, but from the mind of Christ in our spirit.
We have been doing this long enough now so that when we sit down to write, it is easier to turn our pen over to the spirit and receive what he has for us, but we have grown into that. Now when we sit down and have absolutely no idea what He is going to say, we write with a sense of excitement, because that’s when He tells us things that we have never heard before and then shows it to us in Scripture. That’s what our excitement is all about.
It is important to write down what He tells you. It might seem like it isn’t much different than what He told you before, that is because you are not truly seeing exactly what he is showing you. Sometimes, the things He shows us seem to be hazy and nebulous concepts, but the more He talks about them and keeps presenting them to us, our eyes open and clarity of vision appears, opening doors that weren’t present before.
When we reread things that we have written months and even years before, we can see the change our understanding has undergone as He has given us more and more pieces of the truth that He is showing us. This is how He changes your thinking and you can begin to realize His Love is here. He comes to overcome ALL adversity and to strengthen your soul.
After writing what our spirit is saying, we read out loud what we heard. We have learned that when we speak His words, our voice resonates with His Power. The words are amplified in the room and return to our ears. This is one of the inputs our soul receives from. They make an impact that we don’t get from reading them silently.
Our Christ spirit imparts vision with power and new understanding appears.
The world was created by the Word of God and when you echo His words, they make changes in the world around you. These words you speak make an even greater change in your world. This is how we are being transformed, it’s the renewing of our mind.
